East Lyme Beautification Committee, Inc.

The informal October meeting was held at Town Hall in East Lyme and opened at 7:20 p.m. by President Dan Shea.

OLD BUSINESS

The Secretary’s Minutes from the September meeting were read.  Corrections from the minutes are:  There were five(5) trash receptacles ordered, not four(4) as originally stated.  Also, some members received a short version of the minutes and will be receiving a revised one.

Lynne Clarke has done some investigating and has found out that the Pattagansett Island is owned by the State.  The State says the town can decide what it wants to do with it and notify them.  We had talked about it being black topped.  This will make it more attractive as well as safe.

Hurray!!!  The daffodils are all planted.  THINK SPRING!!!

NEW BUSINESS

Next year we will be talking about the purchasing of new benches.

A state trooper has requested a new flagpole for the Resident Trooper building.  Ann Marie will get information for him.

Dan congratulated Kim for her recent award in a garden contest, as well as the article in The Day newspaper featuring her garden

Ann Marie Rogers represented the Committee at the opening of the McCourt Memorial Garden at the Lyman Allyn grounds.  The ELBC donated 500 daffodils for the project, which was gratefully acknowledged by David McCourt, husband and father of Ruth and Juliana McCourt.

Dan presented more sign designs for us to look at.  More discussion will follow in the coming year.

There will be no meeting on November 21.  In lieu of the meeting, we will gather at CONSTANTINES RESTRURANT AT 7:00 P.M.  Hope that all of you can attend to celebrate all our hard work this year.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 P.M.  The next meeting will be held at the Town Hall on February 27, 2003 at 7:00 p.m.  Guests and new members are always welcome.

Respectfully submitted,

 Kimberly
