imagesUpdate From the Public Works Department:

  • The Transfer Station will be open on Thursday, January 29, with usual hours. We will have a limited staff and equipment as we continue to clean up from the storm.
  • The garbage & recycling collection for Thursday, January 29, 2015 is as usual.
  • Please remember that those that were not picked up on Tuesday and Wednesday will be picked up on their regularly scheduled day next week.
  • We are making arrangements to dig out a lot of the snow from the Downtown Niantic business area on Thursday, January 29, starting around 3am and should be out of the area my mid morning to minimize the impact to businesses and residents.
  •  We are making arrangements to dig out the snow in the Pine Grove area starting early on January 29 (around 4 a.m.) and continuing through the day. This is necessary because the roads are not wide enough and there is nowhere to put any more snow when we have future snowstorms.
  • We are using the help of the inmates to help dig out fire hydrants around Town.
  • We have begun clearing sidewalks in Town.
  • We have outside contractors assisting us with the push back and clean up many of the intersections to help with sightlines and clearing areas for the school bus stops. Thanks for being patient and working with our Department as we work cleaning up from the big storm.Joe Bragaw
