in the East Lyme Town Hall upper conference room
CT Sea Grant has received a grant to partner with the Niantic River Watershed Coordinator and Save the River – Save the Hills to develop a series of workshops about riparian corridors. The workshops will be offered to land use officials and landowners in the Niantic River Watershed.
The workshop for land use officials will provide information on the current condition of riparian corridors within the Niantic River Watershed and discuss the functions and values of these systems, and their relationship to the entire watershed. In order to continue the efforts to preserve and manage this vital water source, your presence and support is essential. This is by no means simply a way to convey information, but a forum to share concerns and challenges and provide resources for each other.
Separate workshops will be offered to each of the towns in the watershed since they are each addressing their own issues and each town has a direct impact on the watershed as a whole.
In addition to the workshops, Sea Grant will develop a broader-based NEMO (Nonpoint Education for Land use officials) website on riparian corridors that will serve as a resource to all Long Island Sound communities.
The East Lyme Town Land Use Officials’ workshop will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in the East Lyme Town Hall upper conference room at 7:00 p.m. We hope to see you there.
