The next meeting of the East Lyme Garden Club will be held on Monday, November 9, 2009 in the East Lyme Community Center Parks and Recreation Room, at 7 pm, with a Fall Floral Workshop presented by Bev Weymouth.
Â
Â
Bev Weymouth is a Master Gardener and Landscape Designer who has been teaching flower arrangement and design for over 20 years. She is a local artist from East Lyme and is a very active presenter in the New England area. Bev is known for creating unusual floral designs in unique vessels. She will guide people through the creation of a unique arrangement for their autumn table incorporating her hand selected autumn floral materials. Participants are encouraged to bring a vessel container for their arrangement, and any special greens they would like to incorporate. Ms. Weymouth will select and bring the fresh flowers. The workshop is open to the public. A $5 fee will be charged to cover the cost of supplies. Please pre-register by calling the number below so enough materials will be available. Light refreshments will be provided.

The East Lyme Garden Club was formed to stimulate knowledge and love of gardening, and to aid in the protection of native plants and birds. The club designs and maintains civic plantings and gardens at the Thomas Lee House, the East Lyme Community Center, and the East Lyme Town Hall Pavilion, and also provides May baskets and holiday arrangements for the Meals on Wheels recipients and the Senior Center. The club hosts an annual May Mart plant sale including many member propagated plants, as well as several educational programs and field trips each year to nurture independent gardening, landscape design, and culinary garden interests. Their programs support educational, charitable, and environmental efforts, and help to further the preservation and cultivation of beauty in our community. East Lyme Garden Club also awards annual scholarships to East Lyme High School seniors.
Â
The club is completing its fall clean up of the East Lyme Community Garden and will be creating holiday arrangements for Meals on Wheels recipients on December 10 at 7 pm at the East Lyme Senior Center. Members and interested others are requested to bring newspapers, clippers, greens and baskets.Â
Â
The East Lyme Garden Club meets the second Monday of each month at 7 pm, accommodating busy, working, men and women who share a love of gardening. We invite you to come and enjoy our program and consider joining us. Our programs are always open to the public. For more information about the club contact Jean Hamilton at 739-0506. We look forward to meeting you.
