REVALUATION SPECIAL NOTICE

The Town of East Lyme has hired the appraisal firm of Vision Appraisal Technology to assist the Town with our State Mandated Revaluation for October 1, 2011.

For the next several months, during the initial phase of the municipal revaluation, data collectors will visit all residential and commercial properties to physically inspect and measure a building’s interior and exterior.

All Vision Appraisal representatives will carry proper identification and their automobiles will be listed with both the Assessor’s office and the East Lyme Police Department. It is suggested that homeowners request identification before granting anyone permission to enter their home.

Throughout the project, the Town will host multiple public information meetings regarding the assessment process and valuation issues. The dates and locations for these meetings will be posted on the towns website, www.eltownhall.com, on the community cable station, channel 22 and the Town Hall bulletin board located in the lobby.

New assessments will not be available until November 2011. Once established, a notice of new values will be mailed to all property owners. Upon receipt of the notice property owners may schedule an informal hearing with Vision Appraisal to discuss any issues regarding the property assessment.
